Fare Well Seattle…
Our Seattle visit is drawing to a close, but we saved some of the best for last! Cheri and I enjoyed every minute of a beautiful Saturday in Laconner with Jean, Deb, Bill, Will, Priss and Princess Sellie! From Jean’s garden and beautifully remodeled house to Deception Park and the Jumbo Buffet (Thanks again, Jean!) it was warm laughter, fun conversation and the joy and wonder of reconnecting and discovering new touchstones. Time together is never long enough, but always a blessing no matter how short it may be. And thanks again, Deb, for sharing Thursday afternoon with me. Again, much too brief but every moment a treasure. Love to all, and we can’t wait for our visit in July! Love, Jack, Cheri

Awesome post, Jack! Really good to see some photos of everyone. Looks like a fun time. The weather went South here and we are still in the shop waiting for the wind to subside. The roads were so bad yesterday, they didn’t want to haul us to the water. Have a safe trip home. Love, Pete

PETE…wow, the boys hadn’t mentioned weather the past few days, and i hadn’t checked it. it was heading toward 40 he day we left, but looks like winter came back. same thing here…as nice as it’s been this week, they’re predicting SNOW in the next 48 hours. we sure hit the sweet spot weather-wise on this trip. it was great to see everyone here…as always, wish we had more time! hope you get a window to splash JL soon…i see anchorage AND homer have snow in the forecast all week. hmmm. l,j

Looks like a fabulous trip. Have a good flight home. Looks like the wind calmed down so it should be a nice flight in.

lisa…yes, the flight in was remarkably smooth (they warned us about gusty conditions in anchorage)…anyhow, we just got home. GREAT trip, but as always…wonderful to be back. jake and sam picked us up at the airport…i never imagined i’d be sharing THAT in an org comment. sure beats taking a cab. we’ll check in tomorrow. i’m thinking about taking a half day off this week for spring breaking, and also next week for march madness (state basketball tournament). be fun to get together with nathan and marina, so i’ll keep you posted. l,d

Yep, a fabulous trip. Conference was good, weather was good, and the Dick’s Burgers were mighty tasty. But the real fun was the trip to LaConner AND to the Jumbo Buffet (JB – that’s the guy who sings Margaritaville only he’s gained a lot of weight). Great to see Deb, Priss, Bill and Willie, Jeannie and Sellie. Giselle definitely has a future as a professional photographer. Love to all, see you again soon–July is just around the corner. ~Cheri

Good reminder on the Sellie pics. I am going to upload 7 of her masterpieces that she directed and took (the final 7 above are photos by Giselle). And a quick caption credit for the mannequin tummy phone…Cheri came up with “Expecting a Call”

Well, I was going to say that Sellie wasn’t far off when she calls it “the” Conner, as in French, the word “la” means “the.” However, the La part of La Conner is NOT French. Here’s what I found:
La Conner was first settled in May 1867 by Alonzo Low and known by its post office name, Swinomish. In 1869 J.S. Conner bought the settlement’s trading post and in 1870 had the name changed to honor his wife, Louisa Ann Conner. The French-looking “La” represents her initials. La Conner was once the county seat of Skagit County.
So there you have it, Miss Sellie-doodle.

And of course, you have all seen the original deed to the house of Jean’s that was registered to L.A. Conner? All of this exchange is so cool and help us connect to all of those that we miss so dearly. Love, Pete PS: JL is in the water….she floats, she runs, and also catches a couple of crab! Did a quick shake-down this afternoon. Be in Anch sometime tomorrow.

pete…i had forgotten all about that deed, and i don’t know that i ever really knew the true origin of the name. really interesting, and yeah…it’s fun to connect the dots. that’s great news on JL. and if she runs in these temps, that’s impressive. good stuff. busy day tomorrow, but maybe we can connect. i still have that print here if you’re headed out to ER (and want to stop by and pick it up). give us a shout when you have an ETA and i’ll try to schedule around it. l,j
