Coming, going and almost gone…

Pipers 7 2 09

Just a quick post and pic to celebrate Peter C’s arrival in Alaska.  They (Peter, Lisa, Nathan and Marina are probably almost there now…this was taken about four hours ago, just prior to their departure for Homer.  A very Happy Fourth of July to all, and we’ll look forward to seeing everyone who can make it to Carkeek Park this coming Sunday.  Go Mariners (especially at Fenway)!  L, J/D/GP

  • Here’s a big “shout-out” to all the ORG-ers currently in Homer! Good to see Peter C.–however, briefly–on the ground under the summer sun in Alaska. Am sure everyone is enjoying that famous Homer hospitality. Ling cod, yum! Will never forget standing at the stern of the Julia Lynn with Lisa, at the mouth of Resurrection Bay, when the big mouth of that LING COD leered at the two of us. Creepy. Mighty ugly, but mighty delicious.

  • Have a good trip to Seattle. Give my love to the family there. We are having a great time here.

  • lisa…getting down to crunch time here, but i think we’re in OK shape…still some packing and planning to do, but we’re getting it done. it’s 89 in seattle right now…supposed to drop down to 83 tomorrow, and then into the 70’s. glad things are going well there…i see two big sunballs for homer this weekend! fun stuff. more soon…drive safe on the way back and watch out for jackasses…they come out of the woodwork on the 4th. l,d

  • we’re now “gone” vs. “almost gone.” we caught the mariners victory over boston on FSN just before we left for the airport in anchorage, and now we’re across the street from safeco (we can see 2nd and 3rd base from our 6th floor room) and watching seattle and boston in the 5th…2-1 sox, but seattle is threatening…make that 2-2 with a branyan sac fly :-) for us… :-( for jon. we’re headed out shortly…lotsa 4th of july stuff going on here. would love to see homer pics if time permits…we’ll try to do a carkeek post and pics tomorrow evening…and maybe some “homer” pics of our own from the game monday night. HAPPY 4TH TO ALL! l, j/d/gp P.S. just remembered that the Homer HS teams are called the Mariners.

  • Good to see some new org activity. Hardly have had time to get here, much less post. We DO have some great pics from recent trips and visits, so we’ll get on that tonight maybe. Ben and Jess will leave today (while I’m gone, but it sounded like Lisa can stay tonight….that’ll be good. We had a fun trip to Seldovia and then a pizza party here last night. Justin and Meghan gave us a NANO, so now we can manage our music a bit better. Gotta learn to run it! I was able to get all my songs (500+) off my Mac and onto the NANO, though. Will be fun to play with it today. All for now. Love, Pete

    • pete…just getting ready to head for carkeek…we’re meeting deb and bill at the holman road dick’s, and going from there…gonna run down western and through ballard, so it’ll be fun to go the old route out there. sounds like a great weekend there in homer…looking forward to that post! time to muster the troops here…supposed to hit 80+ today and it’s been like hawaii since we arrived…supposed to cloud over tomorrow, but safeco’s got a retractable roof, so that’d be fun if they had to close it for our game. we watched them close it last time from our room…pretty amazing engineering. more soon…love, jack

      • Hope your game goes well – it’s not the postseason so maybe the Mariners will win one for you. For ours vs. the Braves on the 4th we were distracted by friends through the 8th, when we payed attention long enough to watch the Nats stage a miraculous comeback.

        • we’re watching the mariners warm up from our room…looks into safeco and the boys are chomping at the bit to go. they won all three series on their road trip against the THREE BEST TEAMS IN BASEBALL (dodgers, yankees and red sox). the almost swept boston, but relief pitching was weak after the 6th. anyhow, they should be able to handle the orioles at home…sure hope so. and, hope griffey isn’t taking the night off…it’s the boys’ one chance to see him play. l,j
