It was a beautiful July 1st here in Anchorage – ALMOST as beautiful as July 1, 1989…but not quite. We celebrated with dinner at the Glacier Brewhouse and a splendid carriage ride to the Lagoon and back (fortunately, no train incidents…the last time we took that ride with Jon and Lisa, Jon and I didn’t make the last leg of the ride) ![]()
And it was a big day in Gold Bar…Priss turned 50! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Priss…we’ll have to stick a candle in your Dick’s Deluxe burger on Sunday! Priss takes Peter C to the airport at 4 a.m. tomorrow — hoping we can rendezvous for lunch before Lisa, Peter and the kids head for Homer.
Kinda late, but wanted to share a few pics from our carriage ride and a few Priss classics! Love, J

WOW….I had totally forgot about your anniversary. Congrats on that milestone and glad you were able to get out and have an evening together. The weather was about perfect, huh? I guess we celebrated your anniversary and Priss’ birthday by going out to Cafe Cups. I was thinking of calling Priss on my way home yesterday, but I ended up filleting fish because it was our day off and I had Meghan just watch the road while Steve Haber drove. We have fresh ling to fry tonight for Lisa and Peter’s arrival. As it turns out, Peter’s first day back will be a full boat for ling cod! All for now. We’ll give you all birthday and anniversary higs when we see you. Thanks for the post, Jack….I should have been watching my org calendar. Love, Pete
pete…haven’t had ling cod in quite awhile…sounds terrific. hope the full boat LC trip is fun and productive…that’s right into the deep end of the pool for peter c, eh? we’re hoping lunch works out today, but don’t want want to hold them up on their mission, so we’ll see how it times out. pretty nuts here getting ready for our quicky seattle venture…we’re looking at homer in august now. more soon. l,j
Happy birthday and congratulations.
jon…yeah, the carriage ride was fun, but it DID bring back memories of that last carriage ride to the lagoon with you and lisa. we told the driver that story and requested “NO TRAINS.” that kid was sure lucky you were there that night! anyhow, finally got to finish that trip…weather was perfect and the journey was really relaxing, and thankfully uneventful. hoping lunch today works out. l,j
Thanks for the Birthday wishes everyone! The kids all came over and Sarah and peter made a delicious taco dinner and Choclate ice cream pie with an almond crust. Yum. We are leftovers tonite!!! The ORG looks great, its been awhile…slacker. Just got a text that they arrived in Homer…yahoo! Thanks so much Lisa and so wonderful to hear your voice today.
priss…yeah, it’s that time of year…hard to org when there are so many other things (outside!) to do. great to see peter…he looked like he was ready for action. see you sunday, and keep us posted on the time. haven’t heard anything from Deb as yet…we can do noon if everyone’s up for that. love, jack
From one 50-year old to another, welcome aboard, Priss. Awfully nice of your brother to broadcast your age on the Internet, isn’t it?
Love, Cheri
Happy birthday Aunt priss. We had a good drive down with Peter yesterday. He was tired. It is pretty today. A beautiful first day back for him.
hey lisa…happy 4th! glad your drive down was fun…sure was beautiful, and you missed the worst of the traffic, too. have a great weekend, and we’ll see you when we get back. love, dad
