lisa…that’s an impressive gallery of dads! thanks for doing this. we’ll see you later today…we have a half dozen tent/treefort sleep-over holdovers here at the moment…they were up till 3…seems apropos for father’s day, eh? see you in a bit. love, DAD
A warm and enthusiastic Happy Father’s Day to all the dads on the ORG and in the ORG vicinity! Hope your day is . . . (pick any one or more of the following:) easy-going, full of adventure, delicious, successful, sunny, intriguing, challenging (in a good way), spent supinely, spent divinely, or whatever else floats your boat, or satisfies your appetite, or gets your motor running, or sings out your name, or ….. With love, Cheri
PS. Elle belle, thanks for getting up such a nice post. I considered doing it this morning but didn’t for a couple reasons. 1) It’s a big job and requires a thoughtful approach. The aforementioned tent/tree-fort sleepover made things here a little hectic this morning. 2) It’s kind of a tradition for you to post these fine tributes on the ORG. A tradition I look forward to. Thank you. Love, Cheri
Hey All: First, thanks Lisa…..great post. We had John Garber here and his son Keith as they passed through town on the way to Kodiak. John is not doing too well…..keep him in your thoughts. I have a funny feeling that breakfast this morning will be our last together and I will hold all the others and this one as dear memories. Cheri, your comments are always so thoughtful. Today was easy-going for me, but I did (after my nap) stick the oil tank, prepared some halibut hooks, and mowed the lawn. All of this was very supinely enjoyable. We had some apps of steamed tanner crab (still good even though frozen since March) and will have some grilled venison after putting John’s truck on the Tusty at 7:30. He just didn’t think he could make the ten hour run, so Bob at Island Air sent the Islander over for them. John is like everyone’s ideal Dad….couldn’t be cooler. Happy Father’s Day to all of you and thank you all for your kind words here. Love, Pete
It was a great Father’s Day here on Lake Park. Went to NAPA and worked with Jake on his Cherokee for awhile, then Lisa, Nathan and Marina came over and we all enjoyed the perfect F.D. dinner…Cheri’s famous stroganoff, tossed salad, crescent rolls and TWO crisps…rhubarb-strawberry and apple with vanilla ice cream Wow! I probably won’t eat again until Wednesday. We missed you Jon!
Sounds like a fun and tasty day there in Homer, too. Sorry to hear John Garber is not well. Jake and I (and Harry and Russ) will never forget his hospitality…Harry had just mentioned that again in an email last week. John has had a full, rich life…hopefully, your hunch is wrong and he’ll enjoy many more years of the same.

We are sending this via wifi right in the condo, which turned out to be very nice for what we got it for. Looks like we’ll be able to do some serious cooking in the granite kitchen. Huge fridge and all the goodies to cook with. The fish made it rock hard, so the freezer is stocked. Will be in touch. Love, Pete 8 Feb 2010 at 12:01 am. (3)

Oh yeah, BTW, although Kenny was with Mike G on that trip, the photo with the halibut is clearly NOT Mike G!

That’s funny. I didn’t look that close, it was labeled Mike.
