We had family, friends and neighbors galore in this morning’s Alaska Run for Women!  The weather was perfect…slightly overcast with sunny breaks and very mild temps (low to mid 50’s).  A big “way to go” for all of those who started and finished the race…it’s a wonderful event for a great cause.   L, J,D,GP

  • Thanks for sharing the pics from the run, Jack. Wish we could have been there to celebrate. Had a full boat today….that was nice. Got a couple of kings….one a 35# spawner. Meghan is working out great….she filleted all the halibut today (her third day!) We have a couple days off, then four in a row. I better get my chores done tomorrow and Monday. Anyhow, glad the weather was nice for the run and it sure looks like the girls were having fun. Love, Pete

  • hey pete…yeah, the women’s run was big fun. sounds like a great day at captain pete’s! good stuff. kings are getting to be a rarity in these parts. with the deshka closed and poor runs elsewhere, it’s tough sleddin’. we just got back from the boys’ games with the alaska wild (flag football) at the dome. it was HUGE fun. sam’s group played mixed teams with the wild players 4 wild + 4 boys for each team. jake’s group played them 8 on 8 heads up. they were actually tied for quite awhile…then the wild beat them by one in the final minutes. i’ll do a post maybe tomorrow…i pretty much shot my memory card up with pics. more soon…love, jack

  • It was a great day. The weather was perfect. I had fun walk/running with Linda. Having our own cheering section was fun too. Thanks Dad, for bringing the kids down to watch the run.

  • bringing the kids was the fun/easy part! you guys did did the hard part, so a big thanks to all of you who turned out and “walked the walk.” it was a record turn-out yesterday – well over 5,000 participants – and i’m always amazed at the wide range of athletes on the course, especially the survivors and their supporters. l,d

  • It WAS a great day. Glad we were able to find each other. Thanks for showing me the ropes Cheri. My mom said she had a great time running and walking with you Lisa, and she wants to do it again. Thanks for the pics Jack.

  • jess…glad you sang out there…i almost missed you. i think we saw MOST of the 5,000 women in the event go by before we left. looks like it may become a family tradition. cheri used to run it every year before her foot issues. now that she got the “realignment,” she’s running as well as ever…maybe better. fun stuff. l,j

  • Looks like it was big fun. I’ll have to commit to a “training” schedule earlier next year so I can walk too. I wavered back and forth and then finally settled on camping over the weekend instead! The pictures make me sorry I missed it!

  • What a great day and event! I was proud to be in the company of the hearty Wedin and Wedin-related women who hit the trail with good spirits and enthusiasm. It was big fun to stand in the slowest-moving coffee line in the world with Lisa, Jessica and Linda. We sure “did” the infield AFTER the race–chowing down on Great Harvest bread, stuffing our pockets with energy bars and chips, and loading up on bananas, apples, and melon. :-) Can’t wait ’til next year. Maybe we’ll field our own team. ~C
