  • I would add pictures but I can’t find my camera cord. Thanks for coming, we sure had a ball with everyone. The weather is still just the same as it was, overcast, a little afternoon day breeze.

    Love to all

  • Thanks for the pictures Lisa. I forgot our camera and was really bummed, so thank you. It was nice visiting with everyone and a huge thank you to Pete and Debra for such a great visit. Have a safe trip back Isaac and Mandi. Thanks for coming up.
    Love,
    Jessica

  • I am photo-full, but probably won’t post any till tomorrow…but might need a task tonight to keep me up to a reasonable hour. Presently at SEA’s lovely N terminal, which has a Starbucks!

Great to see all of you at the luau and the Burpee-Wedin Flophouse and Grill!

  • Hey Lisa and All:
Thanks for the great post and am sure it will get added to! I need to do some editing this morning, but will try to do some orging tonight. Thank you all for coming and doing your part to make the luau happen. It’s raining here today, so we were pretty lucky to have what we had and the wind just moved the party inside and to the side of the house. Those are some great shots, Lisa….the one of Nathan is too cool. Am sure Isaac will add some of his and I will, too. Ben, I’ll figure a way to send you some of what I have so you will have them in your collection. Do you use Flickr? Back to work….hope your trip home is a good one, I+M. Love, Pete

  • A bit sluggy this AM from all the flying yesterday, but I’m posting photos to Flickr as the winners reveal themselves. You can see the most recent ones here:

  • wow. i forgot to subscribe so didn’t know about new stuff here. GREAT PIC additions! fun stuff. isaac…hope you don’t come down with the crud. i was “punky” during our meetings on wednesday…thought it was just general fatigue. turned out to be flavor-of-the-week crud. ugh.

hope to be back to 100% (or at least 90-something) tomorrow. big week ahead. l, j/d/gp

    • I am crud-free, but my foot still hurts from burning it in a grilling accident more than a week ago. No prob for motorcycling, but mowing the lawn was tough.

      • Impressive, you passed through a gauntlet of kids and emerged crud free.

      • ok…i’m really wanting to hear how you burned your foot in a grilling accident. l,j

          Hey Jack:
You mean you never grill on your Weber “Indian fashion”? I think Isaac got a lump of coal on the bottom of his foot while turning some crawdads on the grill. Speaking of which….I found 5# of those in my freezer today. Am wondering what to do with those and the Zataran’s “boil” stuff on the counter? I was planning a jambalya party soon. Anyhow, I will be in Anch Monday morning through Wednesday evening….maybe we could have lunch or dinner one of those times? Still eating the last of the luau pineapples and mangos….thanks I+M for getting those! Take care. Love, Pete

          • Mandi mentioned stashing those in your freezer… I think they’re already cooked and seasoned, but you could make a boil with some salt and that Zatarain’s stuff and steep them in that to rejuvenate them. Just serve them in a bowl next to your jambalaya and see what your guests do with them!

        • Dad’s got the story mostly correct – no crawfish though, just scallops, salmon, and halibut. At chez Gilliland the grill is conveniently located a few steps from the front door, so I thought it’d be okay to check the grill in my socks. Also, the gravel between the flagstones on their patio happens to look EXACTLY like an errant hot coal.

Lesson learned – last night I wisely did my grilling in flip-flops…

  • Memorial Day weekend in Homer looks like it was a roaring success. I’m so sorry I missed it. I’m particularly sorry to miss visiting with Mandi and Isaac. Thanks for putting up the photos, the next best thing to being there. Sam and I due back in Anchorage late on Thursday night. Have to get my beach treasures–shells, sand dollars–packed up for the trip. We’re going to look for alligators today. Love, C

    • Cheri, I hear you found the alligators. We could have used you here on the Memorial Luau….family was outnumbered by friends 15-22. It was a fun crowd and there was plenty of food. Sounds like you had a good trip, though. I was just visiting with a friend (a staffer at AMCC) that returned from the beaches of Virginia last week…..she was TAN! I’ll bet you had nice weather. Speaking of which….not shabby so far in these parts. Hope to see you soon. Love, Pete
