Athena MC…

RobStapleton PhotoRobStapleton Photo2RobStapleton Photo3

Just got photos in from Rebecca.  These were taken by Rob Stapleton, a professional photographer here in Anchorage.

From Pete’s feature on the front page of the ADN to Cheri’s appearance last night on the KTUU 10 o-clock news, our family has made a splash lately in the media.  Cheri was featured in several clips on the news last night as she emceed yesterday’s Athena Society Induction Ceremony at the Dena’ina Center.  UAA Chancellor and former Lieutenant Governor, Fran Ulmer, received this year’s award.  Will hopefully have a clip/pic to add soon.  For more on the story, go to:  http://www.ktuu.com/global/story.asp?S=10140934

  • Cheri did a great job as one of the speakers at this luncheon, which by the way, was sponsored by the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce! Anyway, I planned on taking my Flip to the luncheon to record some of Cheri’s presentation, but totally forgot and left it at home. So it would be nice if anything can be obtained from KTUU…

    • Oh, and we had a photographer there so when we get the photos from him, I’ll pass some along!

      • rebecca…great! i looked for pics on the chamber site, but then decided it’s WAY too early for that. btw, a photo page on the chamber site would be really cool! fun way to showcase events AND spotlight members from time to time. l,j

        • Good idea! I’ll pass that along. We’re redesigning the site in the next few months, so that might be something they can consider.

  • Very cool. Can’t wait to see the pics and video clip.

  • Hey Cheri:
Anxiously awaiting the photos/clip, but in the meantime, you are great in the United Way spots on TV. Sure is fun to see family right here in the living room from time to time. Love, Pete

  • Found this post this am when I went to put up Bec’s BD post. Surprising and nice! Fran Ulmer was the star of the day. Too bad it wasn’t her on the national stage representing Alaska this past year. Rebecca and the Chamber staff are the unsung heroes–that’s a huge event that takes a well-oiled machine to coordinate and pull off successfully. As Chamber Office Manager, the major burden of all that falls squarely on Rebecca’s shoulders. I was just chosen to help because, as the daughter of a schoolteacher, I do a pretty good job of reading outloud.

  • I’ll second the Fran Ulmer vote…every time I turn around lately, I’m once again reminded of why I did not vote for our present gov. For a time a couple of years ago, I thought for once, I was almost liking her, but geez, it’s been tough lately. The latest call for the redo of the senatorial race is just nuts. Anyhow, I know exactly how a good chamber staff can make all the difference in how well a town is represented. Right now, Homer is struggling! So nice to see Auntie Tee and Rebok on the org….what a nice weave our families have made! Love, Pete

  • Gee, I just love knowing all you famous Alaskans! Two in one week. I will be sure to get autographs next time I am up. In the meantime, congrats to you Cheri. love, tee
