Hope everyone had a spooky evening…It was a hurried - but GOOD - Halloween here on Lake Park.  Cheri and Rebecca took Nathan and Tom to the annual Halloween play at the Performing Arts Center, and they had a blast!  Jake and I head to Kodiak early Monday morning to meet Pete, Harry Chase and his friend Russ, then off to Alitak (Jake and I return Thursday night on the mail plane).  Have a great weekend!  Love, J/D/GP

Bridge Builder…

Sam New River DioramaBridge2Bridge PerspectiveBridge3Bridge4Sam2 Bridge

It was a BUSY weekend here on Lake Park…we kicked off with Sam’s football banquet Saturday morning, then we helped him finish his New River Gorge Bridge project.  It reminded us a little of Jake’s Parthenon project…we did a little each day for the past two weeks, and then had the big push this weekend to finish it.  The river itself is AMAZING.  These pictures don’t do it justice, but Sam and Cheri spent quite awhile on it, and even added white water effects.  It looks like a real river (you can almost hear it flowing in the distance).   Jake and I spent a good part of Sunday at Army-Navy getting geared up for our Kodiak adventure with Pete next week…I think we’re ready, but the weather and temperatures are so unpredictable there in November, we leaned toward wet and windy, but we’re ready for cold, too.  This is all pretty new to us, and Pete has been a HUGE help with advice on gear and provisions.  There are five of us going, and we each have to board the plane from Kodiak to Alitak with no more than 240# total weight each (including rifles, ammo, etc.).  I weigh 200, so it’s going to be a challenge!  Back to it here.  This may be my last post for awhile…lot’s to do before we head to Kodiak to meet Pete next Monday.  Happy Halloween…Love, J/D/GP

One More Kickoff…

22 October 2008

Coach Helvey Jake 1

The West High Football banquet was Monday night, and it was a nice celebration of a long, tough season. We were very proud to see Jake win the  “Coaches Award” for his spirit, determination and perseverance.  Thirty five players began the season and only 25 made it to the end.  We also learned that Jake has one more game…he will be playing fullback and defensive end in the annual Shriners Senior Bowl at AFS this Saturday.  L, J/D

Last night was the Romig Eagles’ final game of 2008 for the state 5/6 championship against the Wasilla Warriors.  It was a great game and very close for three quarters.  We finally pulled away in the 4th quarter and won by a final score of 22-8.  Sam played a great game.  It was a long but very rewarding season, and we’re now looking forward to “life beyond football.”  The boys REALLY appreciated your support this season, so to everyone who made it to the games this year, THANKS!  l, j/d/gp

Jacque and Willy’s wedding pictures, finally!

8 October 2008

Hi everyone, this is Deb. I haven’t registered yet so I’m posting under Katie. Sorry it took so long to get these posted. These are the pictures taken with our camera at the wedding in Vegas and the reception in Seattle. We got the camera the night before we left for Vegas and were still learning how to use it, so some of the pictures aren’t the best. I will post the professional pictures from the ceremony when I get them from Willy. Hope everyone is doing well. I think of you often.

Love,
