Whole In Fun!
We were planning a family movie yesterday when suddenly the sun broke out and Cheri went to the disc golf web site http://www.pdga.com/ We’ve talked about trying Disc (frisbee) Golf every since we saw the course out at Kincaid a couple years ago…given the rare sunshine yesterday, we finally followed through. So…we went to Play It Again Sports (which has HUNDREDS of golf discs…all different weights, configurations, etc.), and off we went to Kincaid to try it out. We spent more time in the brush looking for our discs than we did playing the game on the first two holes. But, thanks to some tips from other “golfers” along the way, AND learning a few lessons the hard way, we were fairly proficient by the 4th or 5th hole. Bottom line: It’s BIG fun…it’s FREE…and on the fairly hilly course at Kincaid, pretty good exercise if you play all 18 holes. Most every hole has Pro and Amateur tees (we conceded our Am status very quickly), and we’re really looking forward to rediscovering the fun we had yesterday very soon. There is also a 9 hole course at the Lagoon…it looks a little easier to negotiate than the terrain at Kincaid. Hope the Wedin-Burpees are having big fun in Homer…we’ll look forward to a post and pics soon! Just a little over 3 weeks now till LUAU WEEK! See you all soon. Lake Park Gillian-Wedins.

Hey Jack:
Sounds like fun…I think I would be alot better at that than real golf. Right now, I need to keep wielding yard tools to get the place ready for summer. oops, summer is about behind us. Been windy here and rough, but we’ve been fishing. Having Friday off with Lisa, Nathan, and Marina was fun. We all had fun and got some stuff done, too. Made a “friendliest catch” run on the crab pot and scored! Too yummy. Fresh-cooked bairdi….got ten more tonight, so am having crab cakes. We will be fishing every day until the 15th now, unless weather keeps us home, so we can only do stuff in the evenings. Looking forward to the two days off for the luau. I may try to wrangle the 13th off as well to prepare stuff for the party. Debra will be in Anch that week for some kind of training, so it would be good to have one of us here to get the house ready. All for now. Will post some photos soon….yeah, right! Love, Pete

Hey I see two shoes on you Cheri! Way to go -am glad you are over the hurdle.
We had such a good time with the Burpee family from Scarlet, including Bingo. I took him for a few walks and he was intimidated by Alfa. It sure was just nice to hang with Lisa - we may not have seen all the sights of Homer but sometimes it is just nice to kick back and relax. Thanks for coming down before your big trek East.
Well, take care and have a great week. Love Debra

pete…yeah, disc golf was more fun than we imagined. the whole concept is kinda funny…the frivolity of tossing a frisbee and the formality of golf meet somewhere in the middle…there’s as much (or more) laughter as competition. i LIKE “friendliest catch”…great line…watched a few of the new “deadliest” episodes last week, and that series has come a long way! the fresh crab sounds really good. hope you can take the 13th off…as it sits now, we will probably pick priss up at the airport on tuesday (12th) and head straight for homer. we’ll be returning friday…sounds like jake has a game that night, and sam plays saturday morning. great to see a comment…maybe you or debra can do a pic post after the luau! more soon. l,j

That does look like fun and all of you look like pros!!! Yes Pete I will be there too to help with whatever needs to be done before the big event…the pork is getting cooked next weekend. Still unsure whether we will ship it before or just have it be part of the boys baggage on the 14th. Duke was just planning on a carry on for himself so that might work…Or maybe I can bring it and just pay for extra baggage….either way we will figure it out. I am planning on making Butter Mochi and would be happy to do lomi salmon too once I get there. Let me know if there is anything you need picked up food wise. I’ve been collecting decorations here and there too. Spent Saturday with the sisters…always a pleasure. Jacque’s wedding shower was really fun. Miss Giselle had a blast and then got to see Austin and Garrett and go swimming!!! Needless to say she was pssed out before I even hit the freeway to head home. It was so good to see them all. 22 more days and I get to see you all!!! WooHoo life is so good.

debra…yes, cheri’s on/in two shoes again…haven’t seen the wandering collection of stray singles for nearly a week now
and priss…as for looking like pro’s, that’s the beauty of disc golf…the game itself is inherently silly, so pretty much everyone looks like they know what they’re doing (even first-timers get the hang of it after a few holes). we did see some “pros” out there, though, and it’s interesting to see the game played with finesse. the sister gathering sounds fun! i’ll bet that’s going to be quite the shindig on 8/8/08…i sure hope we get to see pics of the cowboy (or is it cow-person?) hats. funny stuff. hope everyone’s off to a great week…looks like we’re back to more of our grey and drizzly summer this morning. l,j

Yes the “vegas adventure” is going to be quite hilarious!!! I told Katie Rose to be sure and get pictures for us all. I’m sure there will much giggling going on. Lots of memories will be made thats for sure. You know we’ve had some pretty chilly weather here for July!!! Perfect firepit weather tho!!! Giselle asked her Boppa to roast marshmallows the other night…but it was at bedtime so we are saving it for Friday night. its the “Gold Dust Days” this weekend so am hoping to take her over to it…its right across the street. I’m sorry peter has to miss it yet another year!!! I love that kind of stuff….so glad to have Giselle around to go with me!!!

Hey Priss:
Yeah, I’m sure he missed going, too….esp. today. Pretty rough and rainy and the fish (the few we caught) were small. They did thank me for taking them and were glad we didn’t talk them oput of it. Shoot….biscuits and gravy wounded so good! Oh well, one more day under our belt and another day closer to seeing all of you. It is the wettest year since 1928 here, so I know what you mean. Got the sockeyes in for the year and I think the scallops are on the way. Crabbing is good and we should be able to catch everyone some halibut on the 15th. Who all is gonna be up for that? Actually, we are not limited to six that day, as it’ll be for FUN! Maybe we should put Debra’s longline out.She can get twenty a day on her permit.
Am hoping for ewither better weather or much worse, so we can have a dayh off! Love, Pete

quick comment…long day. started early and didn’t get home from practice till almost 9. boys are doing great, and it should settle down after a week or two. the vegas trip sounds like one of those really memorable adventures i’m sure we’ll be hearing about for years to come! fun stuff. the “gold dust days” sounds great…we like that kinda stuff, too. just over two weeks now till the big visit! looking forward to three days in homer…wish we could stay for the weekend! looks like we’ll be bringing nathan and marina with us, too…the boys will be staying with lisa. wow…didn’t know about the wettest year since ‘28. we’ve had a lot of rain this past week, but overall it’s been pretty dry…cloudy, breezy and on the cold side, but not much precip. we’re hoping for a breakthrough in homer…god knows we’re DUE for one, eh? see you all soon…love, jack

That frisbee gold looks fun to me. I bet the kids could do it too. I love Kincaid.
I will be up for fishing if the weather looks good. I am a fair weather fisher. We had a great visit last weekend and we are off to New Hampshire tomorrow.

lisa…the kincaid course might be tough for marina, but the lagoon course (9 holes and much more level and open) would probably be fine. btw, the kincaid expansion and facelift are in full swing…looks pretty cool so far. got jon’s iPhone note about the 70 degree WATER there in maine…WOW…we could go for some 70 degree AIR up here right now. cheri and i DID sneak in a bike ride around the lake yesterday afternoon…summer seems to be rationed out this year in 2-3 hour parcels. jake starts 6 hour practices today! yikes. l,d/gp
