The new girl on the org

Finally had time to upload a few photos I’ve collected during the past week or two. Our cat Jamie has been very ill this week with a “Fever Of Unknown Origin” (yes, this is the technical term in feline veterinary medicine). She was at the Pet Emergency Treatment Center for two nights on an IV. Now she’s home with no fever, but also no appetite and is not drinking water. Keep your paws crossed that she comes around. Love, C

    Oh Cheri!
What a sweet post! Thank you. Alexa is such a nice addition to an already awesome family. Thank you for including a shot of the girls and the one of Jon is special. Sorry to hear about your cat. Hope she recovers soon. Alfa caught a mouse IN the house today….reality check for us and it just goes to show you….they can get sick many ways. Looking forward to seeing you all soon. Love, Pete

Iam so sorry to hear about Jamie. Hope she pulls through. Alfa found a mouse under the fridge this morning. Unfortunately I wasn’t fast enough to kill it so it is still here somewhere, you know how they save them for fun later.

Those are absolutely great photos, I can’t wait to see the new girl again, she is sooooo sweet. We sure had fun at the parade, where were you standing….I have a picture of the big white guy too. Love Debra

Those are great pictures. Thanks for sharing them with us.

We are going to be at the Bear Paw Festival Parade tomorrow, we’re hoping for sun (probably won’t get it).

    Enjoy your weekends. Love, Ben

Speaking of the Bear Paw Festival, a couple weeks ago I launched an all-points search for the source of an increasingly malodorous smell here at Lake Park Circle. It was soon pinpointed as emanating from a pair of athletic shoes–not mine or John’s, but I’ll stop short of naming the precise Wedin to whom the shoes belonged. I mean it was bad. Nuclear. Without really thinking about it, John whisked the sneakers away to be washed thoroughly and set on the back deck to air out. Which helped. A little. Anyway, back to the Festival, isn’t a stinky shoe contest one of the events? Had we had our wits about us (clearly, we were unfavorably affected by the wafting stench), we would have cinched up the shoes in a plastic bag along with a sliced onion, piece of dog doo, warm glop of tar, etc. I’m sure they could have won the Bear Paw Stinky Shoe Contest. If the judges lived to tell about it.

Hmm. A mouse in the house. Yep. Those cats do like to keep that prey moving as long as it’s fun. I’ve known only a very few cats that actually ate those things. It’s all about the chase. Well, at least she’s flushing the vermin out for you. Jamie’s no worse this morning, but no better either. Thanks very much for the well wishes, I’ll pass them along.

Another blazing summer day here in southcentral Alaska. Hope everyone has fun today. Be sure to take jackets. Glad you liked the pics. I do too. Love, C

Ps. (As if the comment above weren’t long enough …) When I shot the photo of the parade watchers, I was standing in the middle of the street, right after the cadre of hip-coin-shaking dancers and just about to be crushed by a mondo-float-pulling-semi. But you mean, where did we watch the parade, eh? We were just east of “I” Street on the north side of 9th Ave. (On the downtown side of the Park Strip block with the HUGE flag and flag pole.) Then, we ran over to the 10th Ave. neighborhood side of that block to catch Jon for a second time. I recognize where you all were sitting from the photos. I liked that parade.

yup…the shoes were - no doubt - shoe-ins to win the stinky shoe competition. i came upstairs from the office one afternoon and asked the boys who had stepped in dog-doo. the family room fairly reeked of it. after carefully checking all recently worn footwear for tell-tale canine fecal evidence, the mystery - and the stench - remained unsolved. i think cheri - after arriving home from work that night - finally sniffed out the size 12 culprits (a “big” clue for stinky shoe who-done-it sleuths), and the HAZMAT procedure went into effect immediately. BTW, for anyone who thinks that Febreze Antibacterial spray is effective against all odors, it just ain’t true. update on jamie…much better this afternoon! more soon. l,j

I really enjoy the stinky shoe story!!! I know some size 13s here that could compete as well!!!! Speaking of stepping in dog doo….Duke and I took Giselle to the “Sultan Shindig” parade today and I kept smelling this horrible smell…my poor husband had stepped in poo in our own yard while watering the garden this morning!!! We were stuck in the crowd with nowhere to go to try and get rid of it so we had to stick it out. I was hoping the ladies next to me weren’t thinking it was me!!!! I’m sorry to hear about Jamie but the lst comment sounds like she is on the mend…kitty Dozer had that once and we never did know what caused it. The pictures are so great…I just want to smell that baby’s head!!! And love on those two big girls….1 month to go!!!!

The Stinky Shoe contest is a part of the festival. Someone would have to wear the shoes again to enter the contest, but to the victor goes the spoils.
