More Independence Day…
Wanted to bookend Ben’s post and share a few pics from the other end of the park strip. The 4th was - by far - the best day of summer yet (my vote, anyway)…a great morning and early afternoon on park strip concluded with a Lake Hood fly-by with vintage aircraft and a somewhat spontaneous sleepover event that started in the treefort, migrated to the yard and ended up in the house. Yikes. Wish we’d hooked up with the ER/Homer Wedins, but it was Independence Day…guess we were all just being independent.
Fun to see two vintage vehicles from my era…the canary yellow MGTD and the Jeep pickup (now i KNOW i’m getting old). Best of all, it’s only Saturday! There’s a big Superbowl Playstation tournament going on here in the basement…time to boot these boys outside on yet another beautiful summer day! More soon…hopefully, we can finalize August Homer plans soon…looking forward to it! Love, Jack P.S. complete file of parade pics (higher rez) at: http://gallery.mac.com/johnwedin1#100125

Who knew Jon was a Storm Trooper. The girls were scared of the troopers, but they enjoyed the parade overall. The girls would have been excited to know the person behind the mask. All in all a fun day, I am looking forward to next year.

Shoot! Wished we’d known you guys were in the vicinity! We saw Jon? I was just gonna say that there was a yellow MGTD in the Anmchorage parade, too, when I realized you were not posting pics from Seward. I thought you were headed to the Mt. Marathon race. Oh well, our trip up to Anchorage was way too short and my apologies go to Jess and Alexa….we just didn’t get to hug them enough. Had fun at the parade with Ben and the twins, though and did get to visit with Mike Ford and his daughter….can’t remember her name. Anyhow, good to see all the pics of everyone. Sure wish we could have crossed paths….did you guys make it to the beer-batter halibut booth? We did and it was good. The kettle corn was a big hit with the girls. Have a good Sunday, you-all. Love, Pete

geez…sounds like we might have ALMOST run into each other…we were down there in the halibut booth ballpark several times. as for seward, we were all packed and ready to go, but cheri’s leg was a bit swollen (she just went off the hard boot on thursday), and we figured 5+ hours in the car plus tromping around seward wouldn’t be the right thing. anyhow, looks like we all had a great time! sounds like the storm troopers got mobbed for photo ops after the parade…and yeah, woulda been fun for M&M if they could have seen that it was jon “under the hood.” ‘nother great day today…cheri took the boys on a bike marathon (her leg is doing a lot better) and we had a steak roast (rocky trip style) in the backyard with some of the boys friends tonight…the general consensus was, “these are a LOT better than hot dogs!” and tomorrow is…SUNDAY! gotta love these three day weekends. l,j

That’s a sweet storm trooper outfit - I assume Jon and crew crushed any rebels they encountered at the photo op?
