La Conner Epilogue…
Just a quick post to share a few final thoughts on the reunion. First, had a very nice talk with Deb last night. It was fun for both of us to talk about all the amusing, funny, touching and wonderful things that happened among our family last weekend. Fun stuff. Also, Deb mentioned that she has already spoken with a few folks about the NEXT reunion. I have been thinking 2010, but Deb asked what was wrong with 2009.
The GOOD news is that it appears to be a sure thing that WFR09 or 10 is pretty much a done deal!
Also, wanted to share a note from Jean’s friend, Linda. It sure was great to meet her and Jean’s other friends after hearing so much about them over the years from Jean.
Linda wrote: Hello, So glad you liked the condo. Jeannie has talked about the reunion all week, and she was very touched by the casino gift. It was nice to meet all the people I hear about. It is so nice she has you all as a family. She talks about your Dad often too, always nice things, she does miss him always. I will make sure she sees the Wedin family web site soon. Take care, Linda
Hope everyone has a great weekend planned…going to be impossible, though, to top LAST weekend any time soon! Hugs around, Love, j/d/gp

Hey Jack:
Good post. I am headed up that way sometime tomorrow. It is late now, so don’t think it will be too early! Maybe we can have lunch or something before I head back on Wednesday. See ya. Love, Pete

Hello All.
Just wanted to thank everyone on the reunion planning committee. We all had a great time. As usual Jean made the whole weekend very special~~~~~~ Cannot thank Isaac and Mandy enough for the awesome shirts~~ They have been shared at show and tell this week~~ And I am really enjoying the CD’s done up by Jake on my way to and from work~~~ Great mix of some new and old favorites~~ The boys love their cousins and cannot wait for the next reunion~~ I know some angels were looking down from heaven and were very proud of the love that was being shared all weekend~~ We may not see each other often, but when we see each other there is a closeness and warmth undescribable~~~~ Looking forward to many more family gatherings~~~ Hope you all have a very Happy St Patrick’s day!!!!
Love Always,
Markay

p.s. – when i finished submitting that last comment, the random pic (bottom of right-hand link column) caught my eye and i clicked back to 2004! next thing i knew, i had clicked back through a couple dozen posts (and their comments). it was REALLY fun. marina’s birthday and pics…some great homer fishing pics…isaac in fairbanks (cycling on a two-seater)…our memorable copper valley trip…etc., etc. i often click on those pics just for fun…this is the first time i’ve clicked on the posts themselves at the top and revisited an era like that. anyhow, the org is a real treasure for real-time contact, but this morning reminded me that it is also a wonderful archive – a sort of living family history – that now reaches back FIVE YEARS. as for the reunion just past, i can’t imagine how it would have been trying to organize that if we hadn’t had the org…the tee shirts and CD’s, for example, would have been a whole different proposition, eh? anyhow, here is a reprint of isaac’s first post in the archive. and…there are actually five comments if you revisit that:
The site should be looking and working better soon. The wiki is still accessible. I’ll look into styling it to match this weblog. Meanwhile, give this a try – register and post something. Contact me if you want permission to upload images.
Update: If you got an email from me then you don’t need to register – just log in as described in the email. You’ll also already have permission to upload goofy images like the one below.
Isaac at Rialto Beach
ok, isaac…where IS that Rialto Beach pic? as the org’s first pic upload, i think it has to be included in the pic archive.
more soon. l,j/d/gp

markay…you and i were commenting at the same time! you uploaded your comment a few minutes before i did, so i missed yours until i got the email notice of a “new comment from markay.” fun stuff. i also got an email from isaac…he did an INCREDIBLE job of reorganizing the REUNION 2008 post in the link section, right hand column above. he assembled all the pics, reunion posts AND all the planning posts and comments into one handy location. it’s like having a WFR08 ALBUM on-line! fun stuff.
markay, it amazed me, too, how the years and miles just melted away there at the garden club on saturday morning…seemed like i’d seen you just last week or so! that process started for me on friday when we met jon, lisa and the kids at fort casey over on whidbey island. i used to take lisa and becca to the park on sundays (when we lived in pacific), then we’d head over to la conner for lunch to complete the day. anyhow, it was really heartwarming to see our boys and grandkids enjoying the view, cannons and grassy expanses of fort casey almost 30 years later! it was a pretty powerful time machine.
anyhow, it’s REALLY fun to see you here on wedin dot org. i can hear your voice in your comment…for me, it IS the next best thing to “being there.” by the way, i wanted to mention how much fun it was for all of us to see various logo ideas and concepts come to life during that process. at times it seemed like it was taking “forever” but as it evolved and got close to something everyone liked, it was really great to see it come together…in its own way, the logo was a “bridge” that brought many of us together during the process. there were so many things everyone brought – like those classic photo albums – that were really fun to share (and watch some of the younger generation enjoy, too). and that blackberry cobbler…WOW! i’ve had plenty of “blackberry everything” over the years, but your cobbler was the closest i’ve come to gram’s blackberry pie since…well, since i actually HAD a piece or gram’s blackberry pie! and deb’s framed curtains…i still get chills when i look at that. but…for all the wonderful “things” that everyone brought, the very best gift and memory of all for me was the gift of being there…that everyone took the time and made the effort to gather there in la conner and celebrate our family, warm memories and bright futures.
gotta get after a few saturday chores here, but just wanted to say again that it’s really wonderful to “hear your voice” here on the org. hugs around, markay, love, jack
