deux the garden club

jean wanted everyone to know that she was able to book the garden club 7366404 R1 025 11 1for saturday, too.  it will be available at 10 a.m. also, she called to confirm dinner reservations on saturday…the guy who took that booking had left (town, apparently), and there was no record of it. the GOOD news, the room was still available and we’re good to go. l, j  p.s.  when replying to priss’s comment on this post, the above pic came up in the random thumbnail window…seemed like a good time/place for an encore.

priss…can’t believe how fast this past year has gone by! wow. jean also suggested getting groceries on the way into town…our place is a condo, so that’s good advice (though we’ll probably be eating out quite a bit). not sure when everyone is planning to arrive…we get into seattle on wednesday…friday is our first night in laconner (and i think we’re booked through sunday night). just saw one of isaac’s rotator pics on this comment page…it’s so cool, i’m going to edit and add it to this post! more soon. l,j

Those of us at Katy’s are there 3 nights - Friday through Sunday. We’ll probably arrive mid-week for a little Seattle time, on either Tuesday or Wednesday. Pela are at the High Dive in Fremont Tuesday so maybe we’ll try to make it there. I hear dad will be doing some sweet jumps on Robert’s new motorcycle on Wednesday so I figure I’ll be on hand for possible YouTube footage. Thursday we’re taking the ferry to Victoria for the day.

Anyone have any ideas for dinner in La Conner Friday night?

Not sure about the aforementioned jumps, but am hoping to avoid any spills. As for Friday, I was thinking maybe trying to find a crab feed in the vicinity. I have a friend, Pete Hopley, that may be able to help with that. He also mentioned taking some of us blackmouth fishing as well. I had not pursued that option, as time seemed to be getting tight. As for the crab feed, I was thinking maybe a beach fire if the weather allows that with a garage or gazebo as an option. We could cook some salmon on an alder fire. Another idea is to all go to one of the close-by casinos. I think Jean does this every now and then for the buffet. Those that like to gamble, could. Jack, the photo was a nice surprise….when you said “rotator” pic. I assumed we were flashing back to Isaac’s surgery. Ouch! I checked out Pela.com and that seems like a good way to spend an evening. Debra and I will miss that one by four hours or so. Love, Pete

hey…great to see some ideas here on things to do. i had looked at one point at a cruise through deception pass (it originates in la conner). but…aside from being iffy in march (wasn’t clear if it will be up and running when we’re there), i also thought that it might not be everyone’s cup of tea, so to speak. booking the garden club on saturday was a great idea, pete…it gives us a good group gathering place before - and after - the dinner (which is just below the garden club there). as for the beach fire/crab feed/salmon bake…those ALL sound great (and delicious). for me, it depends on weather and WHETHER everyone on board for those ventures. if we looked at things like that for friday or sunday afternoon, they might work really well. at this point, not knowing what itineraries are like and when everyone is arriving and departing, we don’t want to miss out on simply seeing and spending time with as many family members as possible. anyhow, i suspect that some folks may arrive saturday morning (or late friday), and some will likely depart sunday afternoon. i haven’t heard much yet on arrival/departure times, so that would be good to know. yada-yada. with just over a month to go now, we probably ought to firm up our itinerary. we have the dinner set on saturday, and the brunch will kick off around 10 or 11 on sunday (i assume). beyond that, i think it’s all fairly open. on the casino trail, not sure how kid friendly that venture would be, but like you said, jean enjoys that…might be a fun side trip for some of the adults. l, j/d/gp

wow!!! I haven’t discussed with the family yet but think we will head up to LaConner Saturday AM and head back Sunday evening. I’m sure the boys are working on Monday. The only thing “planned” so far is Sarah and I have a date on Thursday before the event, for a little girl time at a beauty shop. I won some services at a conference…the place is in Burien but Oh Well. So we can go to Garden club after dinner on Saturday? It would be fun to bring some firewood up there because there is a fireplace with couches….smores maybe? a game of pinochle or 2? Can’t have a Wedin reunion without pinochle!!!! I will bring cards and such.

Oh Dear, I will make Pete and Deb give me a refresher lesson this weekend. It is always so long between games I forget how to play.

  11. pete Says:

That’s funny….I was just thinking about pinochle while talking to Jack last night…cool! Also, I got a call from Jean today and there IS a piano at the garden club….her friend assured us it is NOT a Steinway. I know at least one person from Anchorage that can play piano AND I know several in the family that have plucked a guitar and now, we have a ukelele player! I think we have the makings for a jam session. Anyone know Pearly Shells? I know a couple of dancers that know the moves. Lookin’ fwd to that pinochle game, Lisa. Hope the road are okay after the forcasted blizzard. Love, Pete

pete, priss, lisa…scott m. offered us a seattle toursaver book http://www.seattletoursaver.com/ among the 50+ 2 for 1 offers, it includes 2 for 1 on the victoria clipper along with some other victoria tours and venues. there’s also a pike place market cooking experience in there. we’ll use 2 or 3 of the offers in there, but you all are welcome to the victoria chits, and anything else we don’t use. will probably leave that there when we fly back…might be a few things of interest/value this spring and summer. l, j

  13. pete Says:

    Hey Jack:
Yeah, I clicked on Scott’s link when you fwded that referral…btw, thanks for that! Haven’t heard from them yet, but I do know that a word from scott is gold. I did check out the clipper coupon, but Isaac has already got us tickets (I think) on his AAA discount, which comes out pretty much the same (a few bucks more). Funny, I did see the cooking offer, but am thinking we’ll be too busy for that. Anyhow, thanks for the offer…we’ll look into it more, since there is one available without the $79 price tag! Hope the kids have a good trip down. Love, Pete

  14. isaac Says:

Dad, I didn’t get the tix yet - they’re nonrefundable so I thought I’d wait a couple of days to see if anything came up. I found out we only get the AAA discount on 2 tix. I think the toursaver coupon is for the refundable tix, so if it’s available then *someone* should get 2 that way.
