HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEB AND DANNY!
Just talked to Deb and they were headed out for birthday dinner. ![]()
She is now - and for the next 5 days - as old as I am. She didn’t SOUND that old, but then again, my hearing isn’t what it used to be
I also heard that Danny and family are confirmed for the reunion, and that’s just a little over 2 months from now! Seems like it was a year off just last week. More soon. Happy Birthday and Happy New Year from Lake Park! l,j

Hey Deb and Dan:
Hope your day was special. Going out to dinner sounds fun. We smoked fish last night until midnight….the wind started blowing and just robbed the smoker of the heat! Turned out good, though. Wish I could get some of it to both of you. Looking forward to March and Jack is right, it’s just two short months away! Love, Pete

pete…maybe you’ve hit on a new “cold smoking” recipe there. sounds good. aces lost the game tonight, but it was a fun way to kick off the new year. we had one BIG firework left from last year, and we shot that off over in the church parking lot. it was pretty amazing…reminiscent of the ones they shoot off down there on the bluff. sure glad we didn’t do it in the front yard, though…it woulda been a bit much for the neighborhood. HAPPY NEW YEAR! 2008 is gonna be great! l, j/d/gp

Guess I’m really late with birthday wishes on this post–as these birthdays were last year! But, let me be the first to wish you a happy new birth year in 2008, Deb and Danny. Look forward to seeing you in LaConner.
Pete and Deb, just wondering how interesting your new feline found the fish smoking…? Bet that was one curious cat…

Hey Jack/Cheri:
Alfa is nothing short of amazing! The more we rwad, the more we believe she is of the Siberian Forrest Cat lineage. She is totally aware of anything that happens on the deck, but is also quite a fraidy-cat. machines and loud noises just freak here out. She really wasn’t all that into the fish smoking, although the deck door opening so much was big fun for her. The wind howled during the fianl hour and it was difficult to get the fish from the smoker to the house. The screen door slammed open and bent and destroyed the pneumatic closer. I am wondering if we could have a mechanism on the org that could e-mail those that are infrequent org lookers alerting them to posts that either are unique to them or the poster chose to broadcast a bit wider? For instance, Danny and Deb would know we are talking about cats and fish on their birthday post! Had a good wind-down day today after finishing the year off with two successful charters. Sure wish some of that king salmon could come home with me,,,,we need to get out for fun and fish soon. Love, Pete

pete…fishing sounds really great…especially the king salmon score! maybe we can work out a long weekend in homer between now and reunion time.
interesting stuff on alfa…that’d be pretty cool if you could determine her actual heritage. some of that behavior sounds a LOT like our cat jamie. i wonder if there’s a simple DNA/genetic test for that stuff?
as for the alert mechanism for relevance, that would be great! for org regulars, the option to subscribe to both new posts AND comment strings is pretty cool…makes it easy to keep up with the latest. but for infrequent org users, i don’t think there’s any way to automatically alert them when items of interest show up in posts or comments, but the org has a lot of features i never thought possible a few years ago, so maybe there IS a way to pull it off. if not, you might just have to email them a link to the post/comment.
more soon. is the boat in the water for good now? l, j

If we used categories or tags for posts this would be more exact, but here’s a fuzzy way to do it right now:
First, here’s a link to an rss feed of posts containing the word “danny”: http://wedin.org/feed?s=danny (Replace “danny” with your keyword of choice.)
If you use a feed reader, including online services such as http://reader.google.com/ or http://my.yahoo.com/ then Bob’s your uncle. (Assuming you know how to add feeds.)
If you like to get your news updates via email, then you need an rss to email gateway. http://my.yahoo.com appears to do this, or you could use http://www.rssfwd.com/ - it appears designed to specifically for this. You probably get some ads with either option.
Note that it’s not nice to subscribe people to things - ask first or tell them how and let them do it themselves.

I couldn’t get rssfwd to work a the moment - don’t know whether it’s a frequent problem or not, but http://sendmerss.com/ does seem to work. It’s a service of NBC Universal, so maybe I’ll start getting updates about new medical dramas and sitcoms.
