Some Gillilands and a Ferguson came to visit Mandi and me last week. They’re gone now, so I figure it’s safe to post some embarrassing photos of them. John came for the first weekend - Mike, Bette, and Nancy stayed about 10 days. The weather was perfect for that first weekend, as you can see in these photos from down on the Mall and on our deck:

The boys met the governor at last weekend’s state football championship. Sam got to run in a half-time relay race (representing Juneau) with the Alaska Wild, and then the boys got to hand out trophies and medals to the winners (Juneau) and the runner-ups (Palmer). And, I got to take pictures. Ha.
Sam’s Romig Eagles played Palmer Monday night and after a hard-fought game, the Eagles won the state championship 12-6! They finished their undefeated season with nine wins and no losses. A big THANKS from Sam - and all the Eagles - to Lisa, Nathan, Marina, Rebecca Hubbard, David Haynes, Bobbi and Josh Craig, and big bro Jake up in the booth doing another fine job on the mike…it was a cold Monday night at AFS, and your cheers meant a lot to him and the team.
In a very exciting game that was much closer than the score indicates, the Romig-West Eagles won the City Championship last night over the South Bulldogs, 12-0. Sam played the entire game on offense and defense, and caught the longest pass of the night. The other team was bigger and stronger, but the Eagles had more heart and their scrappy defense kept the Bulldogs out of the endzone. The State Championship is next Monday at 6 p.m. at AFS. Also, Jake did play-by-play with Delvin Miles (BGC Football Director and Alaska Wild player-coach) up in the booth and did an outstanding job on the microphone! In fact, Delvin has asked if Jake can come down again tonight to do play-by-play for the 7-8 City Championship game. A big THANKS to David Haynes, Rebecca, Lisa, Nathan, Marina, Ryan and Spencer Mezich, and Bobbi and Josh Craig for coming out on a very cold night to cheer Sam’s team onto victory. Sam’s team - the Romig-West Eagles - won their playoff game this morning. Sam made outstanding plays on both offense and defense. The Eagles play for the City Championship Monday night at 6 p.m. under the lights at Anchorage Football Stadium. If you can make it, Sam would love to see you there! L, D/J/GP
