Whatever’s Seafair…
Quick pic upload on a pirated wireless connection while getting an IM inspection. We had a great time in Seattle, especially LaConner! Jean’s garden is incredible. I’ll upload more LaConner pics to the ftp (eye-cue.com/john) later today…lotsa good reunion venue pics (garden club, dinner room, etc.). In the shot of Rainier taken from the Space Needle, you can see our hotel in the extreme lower right corner…right across from the left field entrance to Safeco…you can see the blue angels outlined there in the lower part of Rainier. Fun stuff. In the pic in front of Safeco, note that Jon’s grin is EXTRA big after the BoSox big win on Sunday. Could be M’s Bosox in October! Hope everyone’s having a great week…it’s been football 24/7 at our house. More soon…l, j/d/gp

Hey jack…those were some great shots. that dessert looks familiar Sam!!!! I just saw the picture of that the other day. Looks like it was delectable!!!! The angels actually were visible in gold Bar on Sunday too!!! Yeah I asked them to fly over for Duke’s Birthday!!! Actually Sarah just told me the other day that they were coming into her Subway all week because they were staying in a Motel close by. She didn’t realize how cool that was not being a big fan of Seafair. But she said they were very entertaining while ordering. Thanks again you guys for the yummy bath wash and cologne, I really love it. Oh and the magnet is a nice addition to my cluttered fridge….somehow it just fits perfect!!!!! Take care and have a great Friday!!!! Love priss

We had a fabulous time. It was great seeing everyone. Giselle is so much fun. Such a happy little girl. The kids had a blast with her. I am glad that worked out to see her at Debs and La Conner. La Conner was fun. Jean’s house was gorgeous. It brought back memories. Jon liked the area. It reminded him of home. He asked whether the weather was always so nice. I said of course. Seattle is known for it’s sunny weather. We will see what he thinks in March. We are looking forward to the reunion in March. We got to see where everyone was staying. Katy’s Place looks great. It should be fun.

priss…that’s pretty cool that sarah got to meet the blue angels…those guys are the rockstars of aviation. jake and sam got to meet some of them a few years ago when they did a warm-up show for the navy league at elmendorf. pretty cute how giselle took to jake…he has a way with kids, and that may be a career at some point…teacher, coach, etc.
lisa…i noticed jon was pretty enchanted with la conner. on the rainfall front, they get less than 30 inches annually…compare that to boston which gets over 40″. la conner gets less rain than seattle…they’re on the fringe of that “sequim pattern” on the peninsula (where they only see 15″ of rain annually). anyhow, la conner has so much to offer in terms of contrast. lotsa water/beach activities, ferry access nearby to the peninsula (and olympic mountains), and not far from the cascades, too. best of all, you’re fairly clear there of the traffic congestion and population density to the south, BUT…close enough to access things like MLB, NFL and the arts in seattle. yada.
maybe i should apply for a job with the la conner chamber of commerce. ha. more soon. i’ll try to upload those pics to the ftp soon. l, d/j/gp

Yikes, you are going to talk Jon into moving down. What a gorgeous week we are having. the kids have been in the pool everyday. Probably pretty hot to be practicing football in though. Keep us posted on Sam’s game on Saturday. Maybe we could have lunch an early dinner on Sunday.

lisa…we were thinking kincaid chalet rooftop tomorrow afternoon/evening. the forecast looks good (72), it’s kid-friendly and the best view in town. if sunday (lunch or early dinner) is better for you guys, that works, too. just let us know. yeah, football practice has been tough, especially for jake…he starts at 2 - hottest part of the day - and they go till 7. they finished with 15 minutes of suicides on thursday…i worked up a sweat just watching. sam’s game tomorrow is at 3 at B&G. he’d love it if you can make it. we stopped by the field tonight, and it was really great. they’ve reconfigured the soccer fields into a full 100 yard field with end zones, yardlines, etc. see you tomorrow! i’ll have my cell all day. l,d

May I just add that Gold Bar is the banana belt of the northwest!? The only severe weather we have is about 2 months in the fall/winter time thats very windy. But we usually are even warmer here than Monroe and west. Not to mention the beautiful mountains all around us and the river, wallace falls, well and Gold dust Days!!!! Just saying….. ; )

priss…while “banana belt of the NW” might be a stretch, i’ve really enjoyed our visits to gold bar. it’s like the best of the northwest with a hint of eastern washington for spice. i believe jon’s interest in the la conner area was sparked by an on-line search for pacific nw openings in his field. there was an opening at oak harbor, and another in the vicinity, too. those jobs are hard to come by, especially in nice areas like that…anyhow, i think that was what prompted his initial interest.
for my money, i wish we could split our time between alaska and the NW. summers in alaska are about as beautiful and fun as you’ll find on the planet, but i could skip a lot of the winter (say, november thru march) and really enjoy spending that time down there and visiting cheri’s family in atlanta and WV. kinda hard to pull that off with the kids in school, but sam graduates in eight years, and he really wants to go to the UW. he may change his mind on that, but it would sure make moving down there a simple choice if that happens.
anyhow, we LOVE our visits there and seeing you guys. we’re really looking forward to the reunion! we’re hoping to stay on that week following the reunion. gotta run…sam’s first football game kicks off in a few hours…also, i’m going to upload those pics to the ftp shortly. they should be available by this afternoon in the 000_Seattle_07 folder at http://www.eye-cue.com/john btw, there are some precious shots of giselle in a red sox ball cap. l, j
