Futbol Promised Land!
Nathan’s soccer team came oh-so-close to winning the league soccer championship tonight! In the semi-final game, they beat the team with the best overall record in the league…the game was a nail-biter all the way! Two overtimes. Two shootouts. They finally won by one goal in the second shootout. Meanwhile, the winner of the other semi-final game had about 20 minutes to rest before the championship game. Nathan’s team had to walk two fields over right after their game and kick off for the final. As Lisa said, they played their hearts out in the semi-final, and just didn’t have anything left for the final. That’s the way life goes sometimes, and their second place finish was a huge accomplishment. Anyhow, here are a few final pics from the semi-final and final game. WAY TO GO, NATHAN! Like your jersey says, you’re #1! (Also, here’s a pic of Sam and friends at Waldron Lake where Nathan’s games were played)…love, grampa

hey mary p…just got back from the last alaska wild game of the season…they won 64-53…great game, and kinda tense at the end till the wild scored with a minute left. fun stuff. sorry we’re gonna miss “gold dust days”…sounds like a great time, and it’d be cool to be there for the 1st annual edition. and yeah…nathan has really blossomed this year in soccer. i think jon worked with him quite a bit this year…his skills have really improved. best of all, he just really enjoys playing, and “intent” is definitely the word for his approach…he’s got a definite nose (and foot) for the ball. i talked to jean early this week, and yes…she wanted to nail down a definite arrival time. we’ll be coming from south seattle, so it’ll be a fairly long haul. she mentioned a buffet over on deception pass…that’s beautiful there, so sounds good to me. she also mentioned the anacortes street fair…the kids would enjoy that, i’m sure. hope deb and markay can make it, too. ok, time to wrap it up here…more soon, and yeah…we’ll see you in just over a week now. big fun! love, jack

Nathan, you are something else! What a great win! Your team is number one to me. Congratulations on your second place finish. Jake and I sure wish we could have been there to cheer you on. But guess you didn’t really need our help. I can tell by the photos that you played very hard for your team. I am proud of you. Give Marina and your Mom and Dad a big hug for us. We’re looking forward to seeing you next week in Seattle. Love, Granny
