Maui-wowie

Finally, here are a few photos from our recent trip to Hawaii in January. Wow, it’s been a long time since Ben or I have posted anything, so here it goes. We had a great time on our trip. The girls loved the sand, running, playing, and being buried in it. It was fun to watch them. Ben and I took turns snorkeling, swimming, and attempting to boogie board. Hope everyone is well. We are looking forward to the “2008″ reunion and the Sportsmans Show. Hope all is well.

  • Hey Jessica,
Nice to have you back. I may post something soon-hopefully. Looks like you all had a great time sunning and sanding.

Take care and we’ll see you soon!

    Love Memaw

  • hey jess…great pics! that’s a wonderful age for the girls’ first taste of paradise…you can almost see the wonder and discovery in their eyes. what did they think of the blowhole? imagine that was pretty spectacular for them. reminds me a little of jake’s and sam’s first trips…hawaii is such a huge contrast from their normal environment, espcially in january! great to hear you guys are confirmed for the reunion. if you haven’t been there already, isaac set up a special reunion page (see right-hand column)…feel free to comment there (and you can even edit the main section, or send content to isaac and he’ll pop it on there for you). l,j

  • Sounds like you had a great trip! Mmmmmm, sand…

I hope you don’t mind, but I gave your post a title. You can change it if you find it unamusing…or if it wasn’t Maui. I’ve figured out that title-less posts are trouble for the archives. I really need to figure out some way to do automatic titles or something…

  • isaac…any way the first few words of post could default as the header if someone forgets to include one? just a thought. also, i looked at the pics again and noticed that jessica is holding the twins in the “gems” pic…i didn’t get it the first time (just the connection with the name), but realized the second time that jessica is holding the REAL gem’s. that’s pretty fun. l,j

  • Hey Jess:
I commented earlier, but alas, computer unsavvy grandpa forgot to send it! I, too, found the “gems” photo my favorite. Not sure of next weeks schedule yet, but we’d like to stay there Thursday night and Sunday night for sure. I think we’ll stay in town Friday and Saturday night. I may come up early in the week for meetings….depends on charter action. Anyhow, thanks for the postg and we’ll be seeing you and the girls soon….sorry to miss you again, Ben! Be careful at work. Love, Dad

Hey Ben and Jess….Those girls are beautiful!!!! Looks like it was a great time….I like the “gems” pic the best too…because thats what they are huh? Love, Priss

  • Great pics of Maui! Pete and Deb your welcome here if you want to stay in town . We have a new air mattress for the futon that we slept on when my folks were up.

  • It’s great to hear from you all. Thanks for the title Isaac, I always seem to forget one. The “gems” photo is one of my favorites also. The girls were quite funny at the blow-hole. Makenna thought it was great. Madeline was on Bens shoulders and had her head down and her hands on her ears, but she wasn’t crying. We thought she was getting tired. As soon as we got back to the car she perked right up. I don’t think she enjoyed it as much as Makenna, but she loved the cows we saw a few minutes later! Priss, we will be down your way in April and would love to meet up. See some of you next week.
    Love, Jessica

  • Looks like your family had a wonderful trip, Jessica! I’ll bet you’re still discovering sand here and there at the “bottom” of various things . . . The photo of the girls flirting with the surf is a classic. My experience is that children raised here form strong memories of trips to the islands. Surprisingly enough, I think it helps them develop a greater appreciation for their lives in Alaska, too.

We’re still looking forward to visiting you out in your new home. Bet it’s made the winter more bearable, eh? Spring Break this week and the boys are home. John and I both still working so we haven’t made any big plans–a movie here, a sleepover there. I’ve been traveling more than I like this year and just want to be home for a while. Thanks for sharing the pictures. They are a breath of fresh air. Take care. Love, C

  • Hey Cheri,
We”d love to have you guys over here any time. It would be nice to visit. I just finished painting the girls room, and nice shade of light yellow. Anyway, hope to see you all soon. Love, Jess

  • Wow, it looks like Maui was fun. I thought it was a great place for a family vacation. We went when the kids were 1 & 3. It was great. It will probably be a couple years before we go again. We have quite a bit of travel lined up in the next year. Take Care. Hope to see you soon.

  • I swear I commented, but I must have forgotten to submit it also. It looks like you had a great trip. We enjoyed our trip to Maui with the kids 4 years ago. I can’t wait to go again. Those are some nice pictures. I love Jessica’s Gems. We hope to see you again soon.

  • I am doing a test post because I have tried posting twice and neither time did it show up. Could I have forgotten to press submist twice?
