Behind the Memorial to the Murdered Jews (the Germans do not mince words) otherwise known as the Holocaust Memorial to the Americans, you can see the cranes for the new American Embassy.

We had a great time with Silke and Loris. They were excellent tour guides and wonderful company.

Where there are blue pipes in Berlin there is construction, and there are blue pipes everywhere. Also in this photo, you can see the pedestrian walk signal is a little green man, an ampelmannchen, which is the East German walk symbol that has been preserved throughout Berlin.

Hi Mandi,
Sounds like you did a lot of walking as usual! We are glad you are back safe and sound….we’re watching An Inconvenient Truth tonight, Pete is studying because he is on the Global Warming Task Force. I am going to plant my Christmas tree when the ground thaws out. I had to go rent it at Barb’s Video and when she went to look us up we had late charges! I cleared them up and will be these movies back by 6 tomorrow….
Hope you had a few days off before going back to work!
Love to you both

Mandi: Good to hear you are home. Quite the group of scholars you were working with, there. Sounds like a fun trip. We have an appointment tomorrow to get our passports, so who knows….maybe next trip…Very cool to see pics of Silke and Loris. Tell he hello and send out regards. Hope they can come visit again and I am certain that Loris could catch a fish. I have fond memories of Silke catching her first. Well, get back in the swing and we’ll talk to you soon. Change ALL of your incandescents to flourescents, PLEASE! Take a look at hybrids. This movie is pretty telling! Love, Pete
