Berlin calling
Hello -
We are having a great time in Germany. Isaac is touristing and visiting all of the wonderful sites of Berlin while I am participating in an international real estate case study competition. Students from as far East as Warsaw School of Economics and as far West as Johns Hopkins University are assigned to international teams and given a city in which they are to locate a building which best suits the needs of an international financial services firm.
My city is Munich and our team visited there last week. It is a lovely city with interesting real estate and we really enjoyed ourselves for the three days in Munich.
Our group made our final presentation to the ‘board’ this morning and if we advance, we will present again this afternoon. Once that is over, starting this evening, I will be free to play tourist with Isaac and enjoy Berlin more fully.
Silke and her son Loris came from Aachen to visit us for a few days earlier this week, it was great to see her and Loris again. Silke’s sister, Simone and her husband, Wolfgang and their three daughters live in Berlin. We visited their flat this week, it is located in a great area in East Berlin.
I am sure that Isaac will take plenty of pictures that can be shared on the org, as the pictures that members of my group have taken so far are on the other end of the spectrum from a G rating.
Happy Birthday to all of us Capricorns and Aquarians! -mandi.

Hey Mandi: GREAT to see you on the org this morning. Hope your birthday was fabulous, but then, you were probably postponing that until after the competition. You and Isaac have fun and a safe trip home. Love, Pete

pretty cool to see a post from the other side of the world…a taste of one of the first frontiers on the last fronter. speaking of cool…current weather in munich is actually colder than anchorage (for the next week, anyway). interesting. berlin is definitely warmer…actually, it’s very close to homer temps this coming week. did a quick wikipedia tour of berlin, and i was amazed. in terms of culture and creative pursuits, it sounds like the NY of the european union…i saw a number of passages where it was described as more avant garde than paris or milan. anyhow, it would be great to hear more about your impressions and experiences…the little bit i saw on-line was a reality far different than my perceptions. Am sure you both want to make the most of your time there, so THANKS for taking time to do the “live from berlin” post. the real estate competition sounds pretty fascinating…let us know how your team fares. have fun! l,j
