jon…usually i can just click those url’s and it opens up the link automatically. i think there’s a way to “activate” links on the org, but i’m not sure how to do it (i’ll try to figure it out). anyhow, i DID test this…you simply copy the link, then paste it in a new browser window…bingo, you go right to it. again, i’ll see if i can figure out how to activate it. btw, i emailed the link to lisa. l,j

We’ve got a plugin that should be linkifying URLs in posts - you can see in Jon’s comments above that it does work for comments. Not sure why it didn’t work, but I fixed it manually for you.

Is there such a thing as having too much time on your hands when you’re jammed up?
December 28th, 2006 at 10:05 am
isaac…i got a window requesting the url i wanted to linkify…i think it actually worked at one point (put the link into code), but i didn’t execute it right and ended up deleting the code. i had to enter that url by hand…it wouldn’t cut & paste into the link window. be nice if you could highlight a url and then simply select “link” (vs. having to enter the url in the window). thoughts?

debra…that’s an excellent question. i have your answer. i have your answer right HERE: http://www.elfyourself.com/?userid=a873ce6a4d4fbaeaff646e1G06122810

JON…hey, just discovered YOUR elfamorphosis! i thought those links in your comments were new attempts at linking to pete’s. funny stuff. the pic you chose is killer…i think it’s the lighting. HA! J (might be a little shameless comment padding in progress here, but what the heck…a double digit milestone is almost as imminent as the new year)
December 28th, 2006 at 11:30 am
Jack, what I do is paste the URL into my post, double-click to select the URL in the post, then hit the link button, then paste the URL again (into the popup thing) and hit okay. That wraps the link around the pasted-in URL. You can wrap the link around any text you want though, such as “click here” or “something. Things that look like URLs should be getting linked automatically though, like in the comments. I’ll investigate why that’s not happening…
December 28th, 2006 at 1:05 pm
isaac…ok, the problem i was having was pasting the url into the pop-up window. for SOME reason, it wouldn’t allow me to do it. maybe it was too long? anyhow, i ended up entering it by hand (ugh!)…i think it worked, but it pasted into my post with the other url and i just deleted it because i couldn’t really see where one ended and the other began. yada. anyhow, it’s not a big deal, but it would be a nice little upgrade if you could fix it so it worked in posts like it does in comments. j (and yeah…i’m trolling for a dozen here…ha)

Wow, I never knew there was os much fun to be had on the internet!
December 28th, 2006 at 1:14 pm
lisa…this makes up for the “great org drought of ‘06″…ha! i think you and jon should cook up an elfamorphosis for betty and dick as a send-off! if you don’t have time, maybe we’ll put something together here when cheri gets home. speaking of cheri, we’re off to have lunch with her right now. more soon. l,d p.s. we need to do marina, too, if that didn’t work the other night.

jon & lisa…ok, the following puts a whole new spin on “one for the road” (and is also a continuation of shameless comment padding). all the best to dick and betty…it was really great to see them! l,j

Hey,
You’re really smart. I just tried to put Precious on there and couldn’t figure it out. Did you get any work at all done today between elfing?
December 28th, 2006 at 7:19 pm
debra…
good question! and surprisingly, the answer is a qualified YES. i did get one important deadline project put to bed this morning AND some coordination. but mostly…i’ve been playing/watching football with the boys and we had lunch with cheri at the golden corral. it was post lunch hour and still pretty crowded…but pretty darn GOOD. incredible selection and you can’t beat the price! oh yeah…we saw quite a few generous posteriors in the corral…talk about your hindquarters! ha.
in the “over-the-top” department, here’s today’s final elf installment:
http://www.elfyourself.com/?userid=42530954bd32a1391961402G06122818
too bad comments on your own post don’t count…i think i’d be nearing a record here. ha.
December 28th, 2006 at 7:28 pm
debra…cheri is the real master of this Elfamorphosis thing…unfortunately, she hasn’t had time to play lately (and it looks like she may be heading for cleveland saturday to be with her dad before surgery on tuesday). anyhow, send that pic of precious up here and if cheri doesn’t have time, i’ll whack it in there for you and send the url so you can post it (also send lyrics and tune if you want. funny thing…cheri was just saying this morning that it would be fun to put jamie and rufus on there. great minds! l,j

Isn’t he cute?
December 30th, 2006 at 11:08 am
debra…way to go! that’s a GOOD one. the first one is a pain and then…well, it gets easier and you start elfing everyone you can think of because it IS pretty darn amusing…and then you enroll in a support group (1-800-ELF-ANON). l, j

January 1st, 2007 at 1:33 pm
dick, betty…first, your visit was a highlight of OUR christmas, so glad you could make it and wish you could have stayed longer! i don’t have cheri’s address there at the hospital, but she will be checking the org as time permits. the hospital web site is: http://www.clevelandclinic.org/heartcenter/ they’re staying at the hotel that’s affilliated with the hospital. anyhow, i just sent cheri an email…i’ll send another with your request for an address there. her on-line opportunities are somewhat limited, and of course her focus is on her dad right now…they’re with him watching football in his hospital room today…no internet or cell there, of course. HAPPY NEW YEAR! j
