Roadrunners…

9 06 RoadrunnersSunsetLkHood

Great to gather at the Roadrunner last night! That might be the last creekside burger and shake of ‘06…glad it worked out. We took a run out to Woronzof befoe heading home to catch the sunset…it was beautiful (see Lake Hood photo above). Cheri’s birthday is on Sunday, and we’re planning to have a fun midafternoon gathering and early dinner…so we’ll do something and eat somewhere…that’s the plan! The weather might turn around by Sunday (according to Jackie last night)…if it does, we’ll plan something outdoors (bike ride to downtown, Kincaid Park, Botanical Gardens, or (your-idea-goes-here). If the weather is iffy or worse, we’ll have some fun back-up options and the birthday girl can take her pick. Anyhow, let us know if you can make all or part of what will be will be. :-) Alternate ideas and RSVP’s welcome in comments to this post. L, g/d/j

It was nice to see everyone last night. Madeline and Makenna are getting so mobile. They did great in that gravel.

Marina, Nathan and I would love to RSVP for Sunday’s festivities.

    Hey Jack:
Yeah, good call on the Roadrunner….the cod is not to be recommended, but the company and weather was superb. Thanks for the photo/post. IK especially like the sunset Lake Hood shot and I think (speaking of Jackie) you should submit it to Channel 2. I guess one of Ben’s from the slope made it on and I think we saw it awhile back. Was a GREAT two day visit….can’t get enough of the twins at this stage of their lives….changing daily. Speaking of changing…Nathan and Marine are growing into such cool kids and Jake and Sam getting to be elders now. We’ll have to come up and spend more time as the season winds down. Looking fwd to our trip….hope to be able to get together with all of you before we leave on the 10th (early). Love, Pete

pete…there’s definitely a market here for a good cod-burger, eh? i can understand using those tasteless, pre-cooked frozen pollock patties at the “CLEVELAND roadrunner,” but someone here could make some waves with the real deal. i’d bet that great fixin’s (fresh buns, tomatoes, lettuce…3-4 tartar sauce varieties, and fresh condiments would be very popular…you could offer salmon, halibut and crab-cake burgers too, eh? toss in fries made from real alaska spuds, and moose and reindeer burgers for hardcore red meat addicts, and i think you’d have an honest-to-god alaska franchise.

yeah, that lake hood photo is a nice one…we were driving along and cheri exclaimed, “there’s a nice photo!”…and it was indeed. ben should post the channel 2 photo he had shown…i missed, but it’d be fun to see it…i really like that feature on the weather.

the grandkids are big fun! madeline and makenna get cuter each time we see them, and it’s fascinating to watch their emerging personalities. fun stuff. it’s really nice to have lisa, jon, nathan and marina back in town…one of the interesting sidebars to that has been sam’s and nathan’s emerging friendship. they’ve outgrown that “rival” stage of many years ago, and are now good buddies. sam loves going over there after school, and having nathan over here to play or spend the night. very cool.

keep us posted on your october trip plan…let’s work in a dinner or whatever makes sense with your arrival/departure.

busy weekend…we have the B&G auction tonight at the sheraton (cheri’s down there this morning helping to get that set up), and then cheri’s birthday tomorrow. i got the anchorage trolley lined up (i just booked the whole thing for the birthday group), then a gathering afterward at the snowgoose…should be fun, especially if the weather breaks a bit (which jackie promised it would). hope fishing is going going well today…more soon! l,j
