To Bee or not to Bee…

Sam Jackie 1

Sam was one of two students from his 3rd Grade class selected to be in the Lake Hood schoolwide spelling bee today. Third grade is the first year for eligibility, and we were very proud of him for setting this a goal about a month ago, and then achieving it. Jackie Purcell was the wordmaster, and Sam made it through the first round with surprising composure and confidence. He went out on “toehold”…he wasn’t familiar with the word, and spelled it, “towhold.” There’s always NEXT year, and with a little more practice and preparation (plus the experience he gained this year), you never know. Fun way to start the weekend. And speaking of that, hope everyone has a great weekend. By the way, there’s a new comment from Robin on the “Take your pic…” post today. More soon…Love, J/D/G

    Congratulations Sam!

I participated in the spelling bee for Sterling Elementary when I was in the 4th, 5th, and 6th grades. Fond memories with a little bit of terror mixed in. -m.

Hey Sam….GREAT JOB! I bet your brother is pretty jealous about you cutting in on his gorlfriend! Any good “towhead” would have spelled “toehold” that way. Sorry the Wedin/Burpee’s couldn’t malke it again, but it will make the visit, when it happens, that much more special. Sorry, I’m gonna have to eat those cookies and make some more. Sam, I owe you a milkshake. Unc Pete
