Oh Master!

Hey Isaac:
Sorry to hear you have a cold. Was looking fwd to congratulating you in person, but understand your wanting to get well before returning home….esp. with the prospect of pre-Phd action! Really wish you could have been with me this week . This deal was right up your alley. These guys tend to be pretty dry at times, but the panel did a good job of interjecting funny and interesting stuff just about when you were about to nod off. Made some great contacts and for the most part, it was a very positive experience for the group. Each time we go through something like this, we mature as an organization a bit more. I really wish I could just return to be capt. pete and let it all go to pass, but with the chance it coulod go to court, etc, that doesn’t seem likely. We met with an old warhorse of the subsistence fights (he is still engaged in it) and he says we need to raise $225,000 to win the fight if it goes to court…..wow! hope we can have good sense and politics prevail. I will print out and review your paper more closely as soon as I get home. What I did get out of it at quick glance helped me in the focus group today and I will share it with others when i get home. Thanks for taking up the topic and glad to did the trick. As far as I can recall, you are the first master in the family. Anyone know of anyone else? We are all very proud of you. Take care and we’ll talk soon. Love, Dad

pete…we got wind of a capt. pete sighting at temp kitchen…sounds like you were jammed on your trip, and it was a pretty hectic week here, too. sam had what we’re fairly certain was a seizure a week ago friday (they were home for an in-service day and he fell on the stairs…then came down and collapsed in my office). long story, but upshot is we took him to the doc, had an eeg done last tuesday and the neurologist wants to do a follow-up next wednesday (in his words, the eeg has some “cause for concern”). anyhow, that’s been the dominant thing here this past week…combined with a hectic work schedule and an unexpected income tax hit, it’s been exciting. anyhow, life goes on, and sam will come through this, we’re confident, in great shape.

meanwhile, lots to be thankful for, and plenty of good things are happening in the family. isaac’s news was particularly welcome this week, and lots of positive things are happening as they do every spring.

jon is here this weekend for emt training at elmendorf…we may try to run out to palmer tomorrow and check on snow-melt and wind damage. looking forward to catching up soon with you…we’ll probably make a family trip down your way in july…hopefully a 4 day visit similar to the one last summer. more soon. lots on the docket today, so best get back to it. hugs around, l, jack
