I saw the lengthy discussion on the origin of the treo, so I thought that I would help out.

does that work with any of the wireless services here in alaska? cheri’s big on the palm pilots…it’d be a great rig for her if she could combine those functions with wireless…pretty cool unit. looks like a very nifty unit. j
They say that GSM service is coming to Alaska soon. Although, they have been saying that for years! My parents have been tracking it because they are also interested in the combined device. -m.
i’m a little behind the curve on how all this works, BUT i do know that cell one (and ACS, too) have GSM service (limited) here in anchorage. however, i’m not sure that this particular unit (treo) is compatible. worth checking into…if it only worked in anchorage, it’d be worth it…jack
Hi Mandi and Isaac’s family - Jane sent me the link and I just had to get involved in the TREO thread. I have the Verizon version. I think you can use Verizon in Alaska which supports the Treo and is not GSM. Note - if you want to receive your email on the TREO and you don’t have a Goodlink server (which is about $2k) then it won’t work very well. -Andrea
