hey all…

got an e-lert on pete’s new posting (nice feature, isaac!), and figured i better post a message tonight…might not have another chance before jake and i take off friday morning for the peach state. fun to read about the hunt, and i’d definitely like to discuss a trip next year. the biggest challenge for me is that this is our busiest time of year (kinda like mid-july is for you, pete), BUT if i could figure on hunting for 3-4 days to hedge my bets on making it back with a week, i think i could swing it. let’s start talking dates soon!

been an interesting week, starting with a collision on the way to taking cheri and sam to the airport. just a block from the house, a drunk driver ran the stop sign going about 40 on lakeshore drive…we had just enough time to inhale, hit the brakes and veer left (fortunately no oncoming traffic so that was an option). pretty good hit on the right-front corner, but fortunately a glancing blow since i was able to turn away from it a bit…but, $3900 damage. fortunately, our pal at ace auto body can get it fixed for us while we’re gone next week. so…that was a helluva send-off for cheri and sam (who made the plane on time) and a rather ominous note for jake and i to commence our bachelors on lake park week. geez.

actually, it’s been kinda fun, but we sure miss cheri and sam. like pete said, it’s been pretty darn cold here…cheri reports sun and temps in the high 70’s in atlanta. hmmmm. sounds pretty good, so i hope they save a little of that for jake and me! we’re going to an nba game (raptors-hawks) next week, and maybe the falcon-titan game on sunday.

hope everything’s going well for everyone, and that the christmas gathering is big fun! supposed to warm up tomorrow…sure hope some of that extends to fairbanks. sam got a quarter-size frost-bite on his cheek last week (it was about 0)…imagine that’s a real consideration up there where you’re dealing with that double-digit minus stuff, eh? imagine you’re got ski masks for the kids…we need to get some here, too. maui’s gotta be looking better every day i’ll bet!

we’ll be back on the 29th…look forward to new posts and comments then. i might try to sneak one more post in before we leave…if not, we’ll be checking the org from atlanta to see the latest. hugs around, and love to you all…jack/dad/grampa
