DC Wedin update

I’ve only been posting site-related stuff so I thought I’d give you all an update on what Mandi and I are up to these days. Here’s the most recent photo of both of us I can find, we’re at Third Beach on the Olympic Peninsula:

Isaac and Mandi at Third Beach

The biggest news is obviously that we’ve moved from Seattle to Washington DC. Mandi’s company opened an office here and I figured the opportunities for an economist-type would be better in DC than in Seattle. It wasn’t a bad time to leave Seattle anyway — the unemployment rate there was around 7% last time I checked and housing prices were still crazy.

I’d planned on taking a month or two off after getting here in May, but a flare-up of Crohn’s disease extended that a little longer. I finally visited a doctor a month ago, and I’m nearly back to full strength now. So, I’ll start looking for a job “any day now.” In the meantime I’m exploring DC like crazy to make up for earlier. You can see a few of the photos from my wanderings at my photo gallery.

We’re in an apartment right now, not my favorite living setup (no yard, cats underfoot!) so we’ll find a rental house soon. We’ll make sure to have at least one spare room with a door for cat-free sleeping, so you should all start thinking about a visit to our nation’s capital. We’ve got markers and posterboard for those of you who’d like to express yourselves down on Pennsylvania Avenue.

Love,

Isaac

Isaac, we are so happy you are feeling stronger and you are getting around. The big bonus for all of us during you “at home” time is this site….way to go! This could only get better for all of us. As you know, you Mom is more of the scanner in the family and we’ll look for photos of you and Mandi. It’s fun to visit the site to see if there are any new contributers. Thanks for all of your efforts. Dad

    isaac, mandi…

great photo! that beach looks inviting AND very familiar. i noticed in your dad’s comment that he dropped the “r” from “your” twice…that’s my most common typo (i do that about every other time i use “your” in an e-mail)…maybe it’s genetic. or…maybe captain pete is going hip-hop on us. jack

We were there for a friend’s birthday party. As we got ready to hike back to our cars to get back to Seattle for work the next day a couple of backpackers walked by, headed South. I was so envious!

If you’re lucky Captain P.Diddy will bus’ a cap on the next halibut you catch.

Isaac…ok, your… “Captain P. Diddy will bus’ a cap on the next halibut you catch” is the funniest line i’ve seen all week - in SEVERAL weeks - and i’ve seen a few good lines!

Maybe Cap’n Diddy oughta think about securing the rights to that “Big Butt” song as a jingle. It’d definitely up his dock cred.

Hello all, my first posting at wedin.org, a seminal moment.

I am sure that although there may not be that many recent pictures of Isaac and I together, there is a plethora of self-portraits of lil’ Diddy. Just beware what you request.
